Project Management
Successful project outcomes require the integration of the key aspects of scope, resources, time and cost. Aibee Architects consider that these aspects are interrelated and need to be both micro and macro managed throughout the sequential stages of a project. Some of the typical stages of a project include:
+ Concept initiation – this stage
includes deciding what is to be achieved and assessing
the overall feasibility of the proposal. The task is to
establish a scope for the project that is achievable
with the available resources, time frame and cost
constraints.
+ Concept development – during this stage much
greater detailed planning occurs. As the detailed
aspects are resolved, it becomes possible to obtain the
necessary approvals as well as establish more accurately
the anticipated cost and time frames.
+ Production – for building developments, this
stage is when contracts are let and construction occurs.
Project Management continues to monitor the four key
aspects to ensure that the required outcomes are being
achieved.
+ Completion – this stage assesses whether the
required outcomes have been achieved, ensures that any
responsibilities for the work have been finalised and
assists in the transition from construction to use of
the completed venture.
In most organisations, staff or volunteers are already working at their capacity. Diverting and possibly overloading them for a one-off project is inefficient and often ineffective. Utilising the Project Management services of Aibee Architects allows your people to remain focussed on their valuable primary roles. We can provide either or both of the following roles:
+ Client project manager –
effectively being the client project co-ordinator to
facilitate internal management processes. During the
first stage of a project, the role may include arranging
internal consultation through questionnaires, forums and
the like, preparing the briefing documentation for
approval by the client board ready for provision to the
development team and any other tasks required. This
client representative role can also extend into the
concept development, production and completion stages.
Whilst not traditionally part of an architectural
service, Aibee Architects have extensive experience
guiding and assisting clients, especially community
groups and churches, in this capacity.
+ General project manager – effectively a single
point of contact between the client co-ordinator and the
project development team. This would include receiving
the client requirements and then co-ordinating the
development team for the preparation of documentation,
external approvals, tendering, contract management,
construction and hand over of the project. This function
is part of the traditional architectural role but can be
provided independently of a full architectural service
if required.
