Richmond Christian College
Background
Based on the north coast of NSW in Ballina, Richmond Christian College has started on a new site. Aibee Architects prepared an overall master plan for the school, along with detailed design of the administration building, which was the first permanent building to be erected.
Design Solution
The building is designed to set the architectural vocabulary for the entire site, using colours drawn from the themes of a coastal community, and incorporating elements of the movement experienced in the local environment. The building presents a deliberate entry point to the school site. It is scaled at a very human and welcoming level. Environmental considerations led to a well shaded and ventilated solution that sits well on a very visible site, adjacent to the highway.
